Phil Crawford

A highly passionate and seasoned leader, coach and coach developer experienced and qualified in over 10 different sports and activities. I excel in creating environments and providing opportunities to maximise the success of an individual, team or program. A elite level military sportsman for 25 years and having been involved with leading, delivery of training, coaching and coach development at the highest level since 2007 (including Olympic athletes, Premier League football clubs and other professional programs). I have a wide plethora of performance coaching experiences which allow me to communicate and draw connections to ensure an individual, elite athlete or coach/manager can identify, acknowledge and take ownership of their actions and development. With a military training career spanning four decades I have been involved in many aspects of training from operational preparation and support in combat zones to being employed as the coach developer and responsible for training delivery development within the Royal Air Force Officer Training Academy.

Moreover, I possess a deep understanding of personal awareness and development, qualified in subjects, such as Neuro Linguistic Programming, Strength Deployment Inventory, Transaction Analysis, Belbin Team Roles, Myers Briggs Type Indicator to name a few, I was selected to be interviewed and published in the Royal Air Force leadership anthology second edition within the section exploring the leadership attribute of ‘willingness to take risk’.

I excel in critical analysis, developing innovative training solutions and bringing learning to life, enabling individuals, managers, elite athletes and coaches to identify, acknowledge, and take ownership of their journeys. Whether delivering large presentations, facilitating group discussions, or conducting 1:1 interactions, my unique blend of analytical thinking, probing questioning, and fervent curiosity for risk identification and decision-making sets me apart. I am driven by the pursuit of marginal gains, consistently striving to achieve improvement and results myself and in all those around me.

We only see what we look for and know what we know, the only way we can develop and improve is if we open ourselves up to explore the unknown and get comfortable experiencing the uncomfortable. You don’t know what is the missing component unless you allow someone else with a different perspective to immerse themselves in your world and assist you in exploring what is possible …
